Cinnamy is a movie-theater companion app. This page explains what data we use and why. It is written for the beta; we will update it before a public App Store release if anything changes.
What we collect
- Location, when you allow it, to suggest nearby theaters and showtimes.
- Calendar access, when you allow it, to sync upcoming showtimes to a Cinnamy calendar.
- Approximate location. When you allow location, your phone converts it to a ZIP code and sends only that ZIP code to find nearby theaters and showtimes. Your precise coordinates stay on your phone.
- Ticket information you forward by email. We read the ticket details, hand them to your phone, and then delete them. The email itself is never stored. Unclaimed tickets are deleted after 7 days.
- Your forwarding email address, if you use Add via Email. We store the address you verify so we can recognize your forwarded confirmations. You can remove it any time in Settings.
- Notification details. To power Live Activities and notifications, we store a push token for your device and a random installation ID, along with the movie, theater, seat, and showtime of any reservation you've scheduled one for. That schedule is deleted once the showtime has passed.
- Anonymous usage and crash data, described below, so we can see what's working and fix what isn't.
Anonymous analytics
We use analytics tools to understand how Cinnamy is used in aggregate. It's never used to identify you, build a profile of you, or show you ads, and we never sell it.
- In the app, we record things like which features get used (adding a ticket, opening stats, starting a Live Activity), when an import fails and why, crash reports, and your app version, iOS version, device model, and country. These events carry a random ID created when you install Cinnamy. It isn't connected to your email, your tickets, or anything else about you.
- Movies and theater chains you add are counted separately, with no ID attached, so we can see what's popular without knowing who watched it.
- On our servers, we count whether forwarded ticket emails could be read (by cinema chain and movie title) and whether notifications were delivered. None of it is tied to you.
- On this website, we record page visits, where visitors came from, how far down the page they scroll, clicks, and page speed. No cookies are set. Our analytics tools receive your IP address, as any website does, and uses it only to estimate your general location.
We never record your search text, ticket contents, seats, theaters, email addresses, or anything you type.
How we use it
We use this data to power showtimes, reservations, Live Activities, and the stats you see in the app. We do not sell your personal data.
Sharing
We use infrastructure providers (for example hosting and email) to operate Cinnamy. They process data only to provide those services. We may disclose information if required by law.
Your choices
You can deny or revoke location, calendar, and notification permission in iOS Settings. You can stop forwarding ticket email at any time. To ask for a copy or deletion of your data, email boxoffice@cinnamy.com.
Children
Cinnamy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, note them in the app or beta notes.
